Ms. Karen O'shea
 

Karen O'Shea is a PhD student in Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Computing and Mathematics at Manchester Metropolitan University. After gaining a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Manchester she went on to work as an Analytical Chemist at ICON, formally known as Medeval. Following a few years in bioanalysis she return to academia to complete an MSc in Computing.

Karen's current research is focused on a novel conversational agent framework. This new approach will consider the use of sentence similarity measures as opposed to traditional pattern matching techniques, which are commonly used by text-based conversational agents.
